Ok, this might be a long blog post. So grab some oolong tea, a snuggie and relax. 

I've been on what some would call a "Hair Journey" for the past 2 years. I was never good at taking care of my hair and really had little knowledge on how to do so. One day I came across a website called Hairlista and I was blown away at the fact that African American women could grow their hair past shoulder length. So I dove in and started taking care of my hair. I tried dozens of products with success and failures. In a few short months my hair became much healthier.

I try to relax or perm my hair every few months when needed. When I got the email about the Smooth N Shine Keratin campaign I was very happy. I was also skeptical because I don't like to use any and every product on my hair since it's healthy now. The one thing that attracted me was that the box said, "5x less damage than a traditional relaxer." That had me sold right then and there because of one main fact:

I HATE RELAXERS!!

I kid you not. Ever since I was a kid I was tormented and tortured whenever I heard my mother say, "Don't scratch your head, you're getting a perm in 2 days." And of course when someone tells you not to do something it makes you want to do it even more. My head became so itchy over the next few days that when doomsday did come, I definitely regretted scratching anything. 

So back to Smooth N Shine. I washed my hair with my new margarita senorita shampoo, mmm, then applied the treatment to my hair. If you use this product and have never had a perm/relaxer before the smell will overwhelm you. I'm used to it because I have had perms and curls and I am immune from the stench. My family, however, is not. Lol I washed the treatment out and my hair was a little dried out, but as soon as I used the milk treatment it brought moisture back to my strands.

Over all I say this product is okay. Its 5x less damaging because it is 5x less powerful than a relaxer. I think it made my hair a little smoother, but not much of a change. I do like it better than a relaxer and will use it again. I eventually want to go natural and this product may help. I'll have to do a follow up.

It's a Private Party..(And you're invited!)

Ok..let me just say 

OMG

Now that I have that out of the way, let me explain my moment of craziness. I have been looking for these products for FOREVER! I've looked far and wide, up and down just for the chance to experience the Private Selection life! Unfortunately in my area, all of the Ralphs stores are non-existent so finding these items were close to impossible. BUT I decided to visit my sister and luckily they had 1 store still open, and thus our Private Selection dinner party emerged. 

The funny thing is that it took me 20 minutes to find all three items and I was ready to give up. I found them and went to check out. When I showed the cashier my coupons he said,"How did you get these?" And that was cue for my BzzAgent presentation. Needless to say, he was impressed (and maybe a little jealous that I just got 20 bucks worth of food free)

So here is what I chose to test out: 1 pepperoni and roasted garlic pizza,  southwestern style chicken trumpets and Belgian chocolate lava cakes!!

The pizza didn't take long to make and when it came out I definitely could smell the garlic. I always forget how strong chopped pieces of garlic can be, but it still tasted good, bad breath and all. The serving size was for 2 people, but we had to make it enough for 6 and we did! Lol

The trumpets were a little under seasoned for my taste, but my sister liked them and that's all that matters..right?  But the grand finale, the Belgian chocolate lava cakes OMG omg these lava cakes, OMG. 

Ahem, they were so good, really rich and tasty. I think I'd only buy the dessert again. My overall experience was very positive and I will continue to recommend Private selection.
